Re: "black baby Jesus" - came from a friend, grown up in black church, kept the phases, sorted and sorted through "church", kept what was keepable (once adapted and capable of being both taken seriously AND being laughed at, and eye-rolled). My kinda church person - off balance, in and on the lurch for temporal and eternal jiggle sacred and profane and, yes, some sitting still and critical thinking about all flavors of world offerings as "gorse- and "gos- pill" - he used to say, "Holy Spirit's not no dove but a pileated woodpecker.?" What? "Holy Spirit be pecking and knocking...nothin' gentle bout It. Have you been slain in the Sprit? No. Then shut up!" ... So, medically, take two of these Verses or Gitas or Sutras or Chants or or or .... and DON'T call me in the morning cuz, in actual fact, Wormin' (a nickname given to me by another college friend lol) you are on your own but NOT "all by yer lonesome." Friend lasted 2 semesters and had to detox from all that John Calvin! He had a church back home that was better than Calvin and 'is '-ism.

I didn't. But still follow the jiggle of the Holy Spirit, the peckin' and knockin' with an abundance of jocularity in between massive doses of silence, meditation cushion or any perch will do but hard sits then afterward warm sitz which enlightens darkness all kinds.
